Columbus Blue Jackets First-Round Pick Impressing At Camp

The Columbus Blue Jackets certainly are happy with what they are seeing from Cole Sillinger. The 12th overall pick of this year's NHL Entry Draft was slotted on a line with Patrik Laine and Jakub Voráček on the first day of camp.

This is a golden opportunity for Sillinger to show Columbus that he is ready to play at the NHL level. In 31 games last season with the USHL's Sioux Falls Stampede, he scored 24 goals and recorded 46 points. He also had 53 points in 48 games the season before with the Medicine Hat Tigers.

With Max Domi expected to miss at least the first month of the season, it would be great for Sillinger to make the team. The Blue Jackets are known for not having the strongest depth down the middle at this juncture, too.

The Blue Jackets also selected forward Kent Johnson and defenseman Corson Ceulemans in the first-round of this year's draft, too. If they can reach their expected potentials, Columbus could be in a good shape later down the road.

Nonetheless, keep an eye out on Sillinger. Who knows? Maybe the Blue Jackets have a steal on their hands.
