Columbus Blue Jackets Sign Jean-François Bérubé
The Columbus Blue Jackets signed goaltender Jean-François Bérubé to a one-year, two-way contract. It will pay him $750,000 at the NHL level. The 30-year-old goaltender was on a PTO with the team.
Bérubé will give the Blue Jackets more depth in goal. In 34 career NHL games with the New York Islanders and Chicago Blackhawks, he has a 9-10-4 record and .898 SV%. Given the fact that he has not played an NHL game since the 2017-18 season, it's apparent that he will be playing with the Cleveland Monsters. Still, it's never a bad thing to have multiple backup options if injuries pile on.
In 19 games last season with the Ontaro Reign, Bérubé sported a 7-9-2 record and .885 SV%.
