Dallas Stars: Best Addition And Worst Subtraction Of The Summer

Now that the off-season seems to be slowing down, we have a pretty good idea of every team's roster heading into this upcoming year. In this segment, we will be going over the best addition and worst subtraction for each of them. Something important to note is that players who were re-signed or given extensions will not be eligible for the "best addition" section. The same applies for picks from this year's NHL Entry Draft.

In this article, we will be focusing on the Dallas Stars. They had themselves a pretty busy off-season, which makes sense since they are aiming to get back into the postseason. They have plenty of new faces, but also lost some others. It will be interesting to see how they respond to all of these moves.

Best Addition: Ryan Suter D

When the Minnesota Wild bought out Ryan Suter, he became one of the most interesting names on the market. The Stars ended up winning the sweepstakes and signed him to a four-year contract. In 56 games this past season, he scored three goals and recorded 19 points. However, it is important to remember that he had a 48-point campaign the season before in 69 games. If he can contribute more like he has throughout his entire career, he should be a great addition.

Worst Subtraction: Jamie Oleksiak D

The loss of Jamie Oleksiak is a rough one for the Stars, though. He was selected by the Kraken during the Expansion Draft and then signed to a new contract with them. He has become a very dependable defenseman in this league. His large size also will be missed, as there are not too many players bigger than him in the league. In 56 games this past season, he scored six goals and recorded 14 points. He is more known as a defensive defenseman, so that was solid production from the 28-year-old.
