Detroit Red Wings Re-Sign Filip Hronek

The Detroit Red Wings have signed Filip Hronek to a three-year extension. It will have an average annual value of $4.4 million.

Hronek had a very solid season this past year. In 56 games, the 23-year-old defenseman scored two goals and led the team in points with 26. He's become a solid contributor on the backend and should only continue to improve as he matures. Keep in mind, this was just his third season in the NHL.

The Red Wings drafted Hronek 53rd overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. It is safe to say that he has worked out very nicely when looking at how well he's played thus far. In 167 career NHL games, he has 16 goals, 64 assists and 80 points.

He will be a big part of the Red Wings rebuild, so it will be fascinating to see what he provides these next three years with the team.
