Edmonton Oilers: 3 Bold Predictions For This Season

The Edmonton Oilers are looking to get over the hump this season as management has gone out and made some big changes to the roster. With changes come expectations and there's certainly a lot expected out of the Oilers' big guns. Let's dive into 3 bold predictions regarding the Oilers this season.

Connor McDavid Reaches 130 Points

McDavid is a freak and will likely have the work horse Zach Hyman on his right wing all season. This should open up even more space for McDavid as Hyman has a keen ability to retrieve pucks. McDavid finished last season's 56-game schedule with 105 points and that should do nothing but climb in an 82-game season. Look for much of the same to continue in 2021-22 and McDavid finding his way to 130 points.

Oilers Make Huge Trade for Veteran Goalie

The Oilers weak spot on paper may not be their goaltending as Mike Smith was sensational last season, but this year is a whole different ball game. They have no depth and are an injury away from playing Alex Stalock or Mikko Koskinen. Feels like general manager Ken Holland has one more big trade in him and it will be for a goalie.

Darnell Nurse Finishes in Norris Conversation

Nurse continues his climb up the ranks of the league's best defenders and this season his production will continue to rise. The Oilers defense group will look much different with Duncan Keith and Cody Ceci in the mix. Nurse skates well, he plays in all situations and look for him to finish the season with roughly 50 points. If he reaches 50 points and plays his game, there's a chance he's in the Norris conversation at the end of the season.
