Edmonton Oilers Re-Sign Cooper Marody

The Edmonton Oilers have signed Cooper Marody to a one-year, two-way contract. It will pay him $750,000 at the NHL level and $150,000 in the minors.

Marody is coming off of a strong AHL season with the Bakersfield Condors. In 39 games, he scored a notable 21 goals and recorded 36 points. That kind of production may be enough for the Oilers to consider adding him to their NHL roster this season.

The 2018-19 season was best at the AHL level, though, as he had 19 goals and 64 points in 58 games. He also suited up in six NHL games that season with the Oilers, but failed to record a point.

If Marody does not make the NHL roster this season, he would have to go through waivers before returning to Bakersfield. If this occurs, another team may be willing to give the 24-year-old forward a chance.
