Former NHLer Matt Stajan Has A New Job

Retired NHLer Matt Stajan is returning to hockey, but not as a player. Instead, Stajan will now be an assistant coach for the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL.

During his NHL career, Stajan was known for his leadership abilities and strong two-way play. Therefore, it is not all that surprising that he has found himself a coaching role now that his career is over.

Stajan was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He went on to play seven seasons with the Leafs before being dealt to the Calgary Flames. With the Flames, he played nine seasons and was a very respected player because of his hard work ethic.

In 1,003 career games between these two teams, Stajan had 146 goals, 267 assists and 413 points. He ended his professional career after playing the 2018-19 season with EHC Munchen of the DEL.
