Johnny Gaudreau Contract Talks To Be Kept Private
Johnny Gaudreau's contract with the Calgary Flames expires at the end of this season. Naturally, fans will be very interested in hearing about his extension talks with the team. However, according to Elliotte Friedman, both Gaudreau and general manager Brad Treliving will be keeping everything private on the matter.
Gaudreau is a player who Calgary would love to keep around if possible. He's been one of their top offensive producers since joining the team on a full-time basis during the 2014-15 season. In 56 games this past season, he scored 19 goals and recorded 49 points. During the 2018-19 season, he memorably had 99 points in 82 games. Although he hasn't been able to replicate that production since, one has to believe this will be a very good season for him. Keep in mind, it's a contract year.
If Calgary struggles this season yet again and Gaudreau loses interest in an extension, he would be a big rental for contending teams to consider. That would be many months away though, of course.
Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see what happens with Gaudreau. Do you envision him staying with Calgary long-term? Let us know in the comments!
