Latest Update on Canucks' Hughes/Pettersson Contracts
The Vancouver Canucks are likely going to start training camp without two of their best players as both Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson are currently without contracts. While talks continue, there doesn't appear to be agreements coming this week.
Pettersson flew into Vancouver recently but his stay was quite short as he made his way to Michigan to train with Hughes. The two have become quite close off the ice and while contract talks can be a grind, expectation is both players will sign, and be in Vancouver for the long-term. It sounds like it's a matter of when and not if.
Elliotte Friedman on Pettersson and Hughes : The 2 sides are talking everyday. It is all over the map. I don't think the pressure point is training camp. I think the real pressure point is the start of the season.

As Friedman points out, the first week of October is a timeline to circle. Canucks management will have to get off their wallets before October if they want both players in the lineup for opening night. Here's the latest from one of hockey's best insiders:
Can the #Canucks get the Hughes and Pettersson deals done by camp opening on Thursday?@DhaliwalSports asked @FriedgeHNIC that earlier today.
