Latest Update on Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews
NHL training camps opened on Wednesday and for the Toronto Maple Leafs they will start camp with forward Auston Matthews on the sidelines. The dynamic forward underwent wrist surgery roughly six weeks ago and has yet to get his splint off.
Matthews dealt with the injury all last season and managed to win the Rocket Richard trophy with 41 goals in 52 games. There was a stretch where Matthews could hardly shoot the puck but was a productive player. No telling what he can do with two healthy wrists. It is expected he will be ready for opening night for the Maple Leafs.
