Los Angeles Kings: 3 Bold Predictions for the 2021-22 Season

The Los Angeles Kings are trying to get back to contention as general manager Rob Blake showed this offseason he's only interested in adding new talent and is done shipping it out the door. This will be music to the ears of Drew Doughty who made it known to his GM he hates rebuilding and the time is now to win again. Here's 3 bold predictions about the Kings this season.

Kings Make the Playoffs

The team added Viktor Arvidsson, Phillip Danault, and Alex Edler and if the rest of their aging core can stay healthy, this team can sneak into the playoffs in the western conference. Goaltending is solid with Jonathan Quick and Cal Petersen, and if they can find some way to get balanced scoring, look out for the Kings.

Doughty Has a Career Year

With the Olympics looming and Doughty on the bubble for Team Canada, there's no doubt he's going to be motivated as ever to perform well in 2021-22. Last season was a bounce-back year for the mobile defenseman and this season he's going to build off that momentum. Look for Doughty to put up more than 60 points and be in the Norris trophy conversation.

Danault Scores Double Digit Goals

Pretty crazy to think he only scored five times last season and Danault landed himself a $33 million contract from the Kings. His shut down game is off the charts, just ask Auston Matthews from last postseason, however Danault is going to need to find the score sheet more often if the Kings are going to do any damage. Last season he scored five, this season he scores at least 10.
