Marcus Sörensen Is Heading To Sweden

Marcus Sörensen has signed a four-year contract with Djurgårdens IF of the Swedish Hockey League.

Sörensen was originally drafted 106th overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Yet, he never played a game there and spent the entirety of his five-year NHL career with the San Jose Sharks. In 226 games with the team, he had 31 goals, 33 assists and 64 points.

After a 30-point campaign during the 2018-19 season, it seemed that Sörensen would be a solid middle-six winger for them moving forward. Yet, he was never able to replicate those totals again and noticeably declined. Last season was his biggest step back as well. In 29 games, he had just a goal and five total points. Thus, his departure from the NHL is understandable.

By heading back home to Sweden, he will have far more opportunities to succeed.
