Matthew Tkachuk Gives Update On Brady Tkachuk Contract Talks

Matthew Tkachuk was very open about how his brother Brady Tkachuk's contract talks are going with the Ottawa Senators. On a soon-to-be-released episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast, Matthew states that the Senators and Brady are "not too close" with the star winger's next deal.

We reported earlier this week that the Senators offered Brady an eight-year, $64 million. It seemed like a no-brainer to accept, but it now appears that the 22-year-old winger wants something else.

In his first three seasons with the Senators, Brady has been fantastic. Over 198 career games with the team, he has 60 goals, 125 points and 250 penalty minutes. His mix of skill and grit make him a very challenging to play against, which in turn, truly enhances his overall value. He also is among the frontrunners to be the Senators next captain because of all of this. As he continues to get more NHL experience, he should only get better from here, too. Keep in mind, he's still very young.

In 56 games this past season, Brady had 17 goals and led the team with 36 points.

Matthew's honesty about Brady's contract situation is quite fascinating. Although they are brothers, players do not tend to be this transparent about others when it comes to this. We will have to wait and see what contract Brady ends up getting. Hopefully it's done before the start of the regular season.
