Mike Hoffman May Miss Season Opener
According to Montreal Canadiens head coach Dominique Ducharme, Mike Hoffman hurt himself skating before camp and could end up missing the beginning of the season. It has been labeled as a lower-body injury.
Hoffman signed a three-year, $13.5 million contract with the Canadiens this off-season. The 31-year-old winger spent last season with the St. Louis Blues. In 52 games, he scored 17 goals and recorded 36 points.Canadiens coach Dominique Ducharme says Mike Hoffman got hurt skating just before arriving in Montreal. He skated after some treatment here, but he could be doubtful to start the season on time. Said he's getting further testing done.

Hoffman was brought in to help strengthen the top-six and as a potential upgrade to the recently departed Tomas Tatar. If Hoffman misses the start of the season, Montreal would be starting the season with a noticeable hole on the left side. That would not be ideal when looking at how competitive the Atlantic Division is expected to be.
Here's to hoping Hoffman's injury isn't too serious and that he can make his debut with the Canadiens at the start of the season.
