Goloubef has spent a lot of his professional hockey career bouncing between the NHL and AHL. In 160 career games between the Columbus Blue Jackets, Colorado Avalanche, Senators and Red Wings, he has 3 goals, 22 assists and 25 points.
With Montreal, he will be fighting for a spot as a depth defenseman. The Canadiens certainly could benefit from adding another right-handed shot on their blueline to their group, so he could compete to be a seventh or eighth defenseman for them. However, he could even be worth signing if he solely suits up for the Laval Rocket.
Overall, there's no risk in the move, so we will have to wait and see if he earns himself a contract.
