Nashville Predators: 2 Underrated Players To Watch

The NHL has so many underrated players who deserve far more recognition. In this segment, we will be discussing two from every team in the league. Their overall roles and abilities may differ, but they all share the common theme that they are not as respected as they ought to be.

In this piece, we will be focusing on the Nashville Predators. This off-season, they traded away Ryan Ellis and Viktor Arvidsson, while also losing Calle Jarnkrok in the Expansion Draft. Longtime goaltender Pekka Rinne also retired. With all of this, it seems that the team is heading into a new direction. These two underrated players could have bigger roles than previous years because of it.

Luke Kunin C/RW: Luke Kunin deserves far more attention from hockey fans. In 38 games last season, the 2016 first-round pick scored 10 goals and recorded 19 points. The 23-year-old forward is continuing to improve each season and should thrive in a larger role next season. He also works very well on the penalty kill because of his defensive ability. He seems to be growing more into a physical player as well, as he had a career-high of 84 hits last season. Previously, his career-high was 67 during the 2018-19 season with the Minnesota Wild.

Philippe Myers D: Although the loss of Ellis stings, Nashville fans should be excited to see what Philippe Myers can bring this season. The 24-year-old defenseman scored a goal and had 10 assists in 44 games last season with the Philadelphia Flyers. This came after a 16-point campaign in 50 games the season before. His role with the Predators also should be bigger, so we could see his contributions go up. The 6'5" defenseman is also still young, so he has more room for growth as an NHLer.
