New Jersey Devils: 2 Underrated Players To Watch

The NHL has so many underrated players who deserve far more recognition. In this segment, we will be discussing two from every team in the league. Their overall roles and abilities may differ, but they all share the common theme that they are not as respected as they ought to be.

For full transparency, two teams will be randomly picked from a wheel each day. The winners will then be discussed.

In this piece, we will be looking at the New Jersey Devils. With all of the off-season moves they made, the Devils look like a much stronger team on paper. It seems as though that they are starting to move out of their rebuild because of this. These two underrated players should provide them with a lot next season, too. Even though many see them still missing the playoffs, the future does look bright for this franchise.

Miles Wood LW: Miles Wood is such an underrated player in this league. The power forward not only produces well offensively, but is very tenacious and hard-working. In 55 games this past season, he scored 17 goals and had 25 points. He also is an alternate captain for the Devils now, so he is growing into a leader. Although he is not a superstar, he does offer a little bit of everything and always is noticeable when he is on the ice.

Ryan Graves D: The Devils adding Dougie Hamilton is being talked about the most and that's entirely justifiable. However, Ryan Graves is also going to be a very nice addition for New Jersey. In 54 games this past season, he scored two goals and had 15 points. The 6'5" 220 pound defenseman not only can produce well from the backend, but also throws the body around constantly. He had 77 hits this past season and 112 hits in 69 games the year before. His strong defensive nature also could make him the perfect candidate to play alongside Hamiltion on the top-pairing.
