New Jersey Devils Goaltender Unable to Play Games in Canada
New Jersey Devils goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood is not vaccinated and could potentially miss some games this season, more specifically when the team travels to Canada.
“I’ve not decided one way or the other whether I’m doing it. I’m taking a little bit of extra time.”

--- @NJDevils goalie Mackenzie Blackwood on getting vaccinated. Devils don't play in Canada until Dec. 3, at the Winnipeg Jets.
Last season Blackwood, who played his junior hockey for the Barrie Colts, appeared in 35 games and posted a 3.04 GAA and a .902 save%. The team is expecting him to stay healthy and take a giant leap forward in his development with the young Devils.

The #NJDevils have indeed confirmed that G Mackenzie Blackwood is the lone player who has not been vaccinated.
He will not be able to play in the 9 games in 🇨🇦 UNLESS he gets vaccinated by #NHL rules.#THPN #NJDevils #HockeyTwitter #MackenzieBlackwood #Devils pic.twitter.com/D90EeW5Tzo
There's certainly a chance between now and December when the Devils play their first game in Canada that Blackwood's status could very easily change. Blackwood joins Tyler Bertuzzi of the Detroit Red Wings who are currently on US based teams and unable to play in Canada.
