New Jersey Devils Sign Frédérik Gauthier To Professional Tryout Contract

The New Jersey Devils have signed Frédérik Gauthier to a professional tryout contract.

Gauthier is the fourth player to join the team on PTO, as they signed Jimmy Vesey, Mark Jankowski and Tyler Wotherspoon to them earlier this week.

Gauthier was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. His last year with the Leafs came during the 2019-20 season. In 61 games with them, he scored seven goals and had 12 points as a bottom-six forward.

He spent this past season as a member of the Arizona Coyotes organization. He only suited up in two games with the Coyotes and was held off the scoresheet. He also played 18 games in the AHL with the Tucson Roadrunners, where he scored two goals and recorded seven points.

Gauthier may be able to fight his way to a roster spot on the Devils. However, if he is signed, it seems more likely that he would join their AHL squad.
