New York Islanders Officially Announce Multiple Signings
The New York Islanders have re-signed Anthony Beauvillier, Casey Cizikas, Kyle Palmieri and Ilya Sorokin. It had been reported that Cizikas and Palmieri were expected to be signed by the Islanders, but it was not officially confirmed until now. As for Beauvillier and Sorokin, they were two key RFAs who needed deals.
The details of the contracts are listed below:#Isles Transactions: Anthony Beauvillier, Casey Cizikas, Kyle Palmieri and Ilya Sorokin have all agreed to multi-year contracts.
— New York Islanders (@NYIslanders) September 1, 2021
Beauvillier: 3-year contract, $4.15 million AAV
Cizikas: 6-year contract, $2.5 million AAV
Palmieri: 4-year contract, $5 million AAV
Sorokin: 3-year contract, $4 million AAV
In 47 games this season, Beauvillier scored 15 goals and recorded 28 points. He took a real step forward this year and will continue to be a key top-six winger for the Islanders these next few years. He also is only 24 years old, so he has the potential to become even better.
Cizikas is the true heart of their fourth-line, so it is wonderful for them that he is sticking around. He had the chance to sign anywhere he wanted to as an unrestricted free agent, so this is a real win. In 56 games this season, he scored seven goals and had 14 points.
Palmieri turned out to be a great deadline acquisition for the Islanders. Although he only had four points in 17 regular season games with them, he turned it on in the postseason. In 19 games, he scored a notable seven goals and had nine points. With the loss of Eberle, it is good that they were able to keep Palmieri for the top-six.
Sorokin just played his first season in the league and did quite well. In 22 games, he sported a 13-6-3 record to go along with a .918 SV%. He also went 4-1 during the postseason and had a .922 SV%. For now, he will be form a very strong tandem with Semyon Varlamov, but he will eventually be their full-on starter later down the road.
The Islanders are expected to be bringing back Travis Zajac and sign veteran Zach Parise, but that has yet to be confirmed. Keep an eye out for it.
