New York Islanders Sign Veteran Goaltender
The New York Islanders will have some internal competition in their crease for training camp as the team has signed veteran netminder Cory Schneider to a one-year two-way contract.
#Isles GM Lou Lamoriello says Cory Schneider is returning on a two-way contract. Michael dal Colle and RFA Kieffer Bellows are under contract.

Schneider last played an NHL game back in 2019-20 with the New Jersey Devils. He posted a 3.53 GAA and a .903 save % in those 13 appearances. Last season with the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the 35-year-old recorded a 3.94 GAA and a .843 save %.
The Islanders will have both Semyon Varlamov and Ilya Sorokin on their NHL roster and Schneider will be the 'security blanket' in the AHL should an injury occur. Don't expect his leash to be long though, if he shows right away he can't perform at the professional level, expect Sweet Lou to cut ties...finally.
