Patrice Bergeron Won't Sign Extension Until After Season
Patrice Bergeron has openly stated that he will not sign an extension with the Boston Bruins until the end of this upcoming season.
Bergeron has spent the entirety of his 17-year career with the Bruins, so it seems very unlikely that he would leave via free agency. He also is about to begin his second season as their captain. Thus, there may be no rush to sign him to his next deal.As far as #NHLBruins captain Patrice Bergeron is concerned, he won't be signing a contract extension until the 2021-22 season is over.

“I’m going to play out this year and then talk about [contract matters] after."

However, Boston fans would feel more secure about his future with the team if he were open to signing an extension now. Keep in mind, longtime Bruin David Krejci left this summer to head back home to the Czech Republic. Losing another key center the following off-season would be disastrous for Boston.
Bergeron is still an extremely efficient two-way forward in this league. In 54 games this past season, he shad 23 goals and 48 points. He is still their top center, so his importance to the team is immensely high.
In 1,143 games with the Bruins, he has 375 goals, 542 assists and 917 points.
