Philadelphia Flyers: 2 Underrated Players To Watch

The NHL has so many underrated players who deserve far more recognition. In this segment, we will be discussing two from every team in the league. Their overall roles and abilities may differ, but they all share the common theme that they are not as respected as they ought to be.

In this piece, we will be focusing on the Philadelphia Flyers. These two forwards may not be the most dominant of goal scorers, but they each perform their roles quite well for the team.

Scott Laughton C/LW: Scott Laughton is the type of third-line forward that every NHL team would love to have. He provides solid depth scoring and works well on the penalty kill because of his defensive ability. He also is a very physical player, as evidenced by his 141 hits in just 53 games this season. In terms of offensive production, he also scored nine goals and had 20 points. Philadelphia also clearly appreciate all of his contributions, as they signed him to a five-year extension last season, too.

Nicolas Aube-Kubel RW: Nicolas Aube-Kubel is a solid bottom-six winger who has cemented himself as a legitimate NHLer. In 50 games this past season, he scored three goals and recorded 12 points. Although those stats are not jaw-dropping, his tenacity and physicality make him a nice fit with the Flyers. He had 120 hits on the season, so he clearly does not shy away from the rough side of the game. At just 25 years old, he also can get better from here with more experience.
