Promising Update On Auston Matthews
Last month, Toronto Maple Leafs' forward Auston Matthews had surgery on his left wrist. Thankfully, though, he should be ready to go for Opening Night, according to Sportsnet's Luke Fox.
Every hockey fan knows how fantastic of a player Matthews is. The 2016 first overall pick has blossomed into a legitimate star in this league. He also is coming off of a career season that saw him score 41 goals and have 66 points in just 52 games. His 41 goals went on to lead the league, which led to his first ever Maurice Richard Trophy.Auston Matthews’ left wrist is on track to be operational for Opening Night with the Toronto Maple Leafs’ star saying he's "definitely not worried about it" during a recording of the 31 Thoughts podcast. The Leafs need Matthews to be entirely healthy heading into this season, as he is their most important player. Therefore, with him not expected to miss any regular season time, they have dodged a potential bullet.
In 334 career games thus far, the 23-year-old center has 199 goals, 152 assists and 351 points. It will be exciting to see what the NHL 22 cover athlete does this season.
