Prospect Jared McIsaac Injured During Game

Detroit Red Wings prospect Jared McIsaac was injured yesterday against the Columbus Blue Jackets from a hit by James Malatesta.

McIsaac lost consciousness from it and left the game on a stretcher. Thankfully, he still has feeling in all his extremities and is now completely alert, according to the Red Wings.

Malatesta also talked about the hit after the game and was visibly upset, according to Scott Wheeler.

The Red Wings selected McIsaac 36th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He had his first taste of professional hockey this past season in two different leagues. He first played a game for HPK of Liiga and did not record a point. He also suited up in 10 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins and had two assists.

McIsaac is a player who does have the potential to be a solid defenseman in this league. He did quite well during his days in the QMJHL. During the 2018-19 specifically, he scored 16 goals and had 62 points in just 53 games. That is very strong production from a defenseman, no matter the league.

It is also very scary when situations like these occur. To end this, we would like to wish McIsaac a speedy recovery.
