Report: Jake Virtanen May Be Heading To Russia
According to Rob Williams of Daily Hive Vancouver, Jake Virtanen has been offered a contract from SKA St. Petersburg that would pay him 60 million rubles. That is roughly $825,000 USD at this time.
In May of this past season, Virtanen was placed on leave by the Vancouver Canucks after a serious sexual misconduct allegation was made against him. He would not play another game for the team and was understandably bought out earlier this off-season.A report out of Russia has a KHL team offering Jake Virtanen a contract with a big pay cut from what he was due to make with the #Canucks. https://t.co/U6BZ6BluFk

It was surprisingly reported that the Carolina Hurricanes were interested in the 25-year-old winger earlier this summer, but nothing came out of it. Now, there's a good chance he will be playing in Russia this upcoming season, as it appears no NHL team is willing to bring him in. It is easy to understand why.
If this truly marks the end of Virtanen's NHL career, he had 55 goals, 45 assists and 100 points in 317 games played.
