Rumor: Maple Leafs Receiving Trade Calls on Forward

The Toronto Maple Leafs have a ton of internal competition in training camp this season and their forward group is catching the attention of other teams. According to a source close to the team, the Leafs have received multiple trade calls regarding forward Pierre Engvall.

Engvall is currently day to day with a hip injury but that's not stopping teams from reaching out to see what the asking price is. Some even think the Leafs would be willing to give up on Engvall for basically nothing, but that's hard to believe at this point considering how loyal they have been to the former seventh round draft pick.

Last season Engvall recorded 12 points in 42 games, playing both on the wing and down the middle. He's fighting for a spot on Toronto's fourth line, but when you're out of the lineup it's hard to turn heads on the ice.

Engvall is 25 and has a cap hit of $1.25 million this season and is a restricted free agent come next summer. The knock has always been his physicality considering he's 6'4 but Engvall is a smooth skater who has shown versatility, and a decent shot. Look for the Leafs to let training camp play out a little bit longer before they start shipping players out.
