Rumor: Ottawa Senators Make Huge Offer to Brady Tkachuk
The Ottawa Senators are getting serious as the team has reportedly made a huge contract offer to restricted free-agent forward Brady Tkachuk. The two sides have gone back and forth all summer long on a new contract and it sounds like a mega-deal could be on the way.
Reports have the Senators offering the soon-to-be 22-year-old pesky forward an eight-year deal worth $64 million total. Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun had this to say on the new deal:
Look, getting Tkachuk signed to a long-term deal has been a priority for owner Eugene Melnyk and Dorion since the off-season started and in negotiations often nothing get’s done until there’s a deadline. Well, camp is fast approaching and both sides realize it’s in everybody’s best interests to have Tkachuk there on opening day.
Tkachuk is coming off a season where he posted 36 points in 56 games and the sky is the limit for the young forward. Expect a break out season for Tkachuk in Ottawa and for him to be closer to a point a game player moving forward in his career. A career that could very well be completely spent as a Senator.
