San Jose Sharks: 3 Players With Expiring Contracts

With the off-season almost completed, it feels right to take a preview into next year's. In this segment, we will be looking at three players from each team who have expiring contracts. Both restricted and unrestricted free agents are eligible for discussion.

In this piece, we will be taking a look at the San Jose Sharks. They have one core player who they have to make a huge decision with. They also have two other RFAs worth thinking about.

Tomas Hertl C (UFA): Tomas Hertl is a rental candidate, as the Sharks are expected to miss the playoffs and he's eligible for unrestricted free agency next summer. The Sharks would be able to get a lot for him through trade, as every team wants to add a scoring top-six center. In 50 games last season, he scored 19 goals and had 43 points.

Mario Ferraro D (RFA): Mario Ferraro is developing into a very good defenseman for the Sharks. In 56 games last season, he scored a goal and had 16 assists. The 23-year-old is expected to play a large role on the team's blueline this season, so keep a close eye on him. If he has a big year, he should be able to get himself a very solid contract.

Noah Gregor C (RFA): Noah Gregor is another RFA who is worth paying attention to. In 30 games last season, he scored five goals and added an assist. In 10 games with the Barracuda, he also had three goals and nine points. If he can translate his offensive success in the AHL to the NHL level, he should get also get a good contract.
