Seattle Kraken Sign Ryan Donato

The Seattle Kraken have signed Ryan Donato to a one-year, $750,000 contract. When his contract expires, he will be a restricted free agent.

Donato was surprisingly not given a qualifying offer by the San Jose Sharks this off-season after a pretty decent season. In 50 games, he scored six goals and recorded 20 points. Those are not the craziest of stats, but he is still young and a decent third-line option. It also does not hurt that he can play both center and left wing, so will give the Kraken more depth upfront in multiple ways.

In 180 career NHL games between the Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild and Sharks, Donato has 35 goals, 42 assists and 77 points.

When looking at how little the Kraken are paying Donato, it is clear that this is a good, low-risk move. We will have to wait and see how Donato does with the NHL's newest team.
