Shea Weber On Montreal Canadiens' Training Camp Roster

According to Elliotte Friedman's latest 32 Thoughts piece, Shea Weber is in fact on the Montreal Canadiens' training camp roster. Earlier this off-season, general manager Marc Bergevin stated that Weber would likely not only miss the entire 2021-22 season, but also may never play again. Therefore, it's interesting to see his name there.

Friedman also went on to say that his teammates are unhappy that Weber is having a physical, as they have witnessed how much pain he went through to play this season. It seems very unlikely that Weber would be able to pass it, too.

In 48 games this past season, Weber was still quite effective, as he had six goals and 19 points. The 36-year-old captain also had six points in 22 playoff games. If Bergevin's statement from earlier this off-season comes true for this season alone, the Canadiens will miss Weber immensely. Even with his older age, he is still one of their top defensemen.
