Some Important NHL Dates Have Been Released
With this year's NHL season having an Olympic break, both the trade deadline and first of free agency will have different dates. The deadline will be on March 21, 2022 and free agency will begin on July 13, 2022.
Some important dates with the Stanley Cup Playoffs have also been released. The postseason will begin on May 2, 2022 and the latest it can go until is June 30, 2022. From here, on July 1st, NHL teams will be able to buyout players under contract. This period will last until July 12th.Trade deadline March 21. Free agency July 13.

March 21: Trade deadline
May 2: First day of Stanley Cup Playoffs
June 30: Last possible day of Stanley Cup Playoffs
July 1: First buyout period opens
July 7-8: NHL draft
July 12: First buyout period ends
July 13: Free agency opens
It's nice that these important dates have now been finalized. It will erase a lot of confusion now heading into the 2021-22 season.
