Some Updates On Jack Eichel

In Elliotte Friedman's most recent 32 Thoughts piece, he states that he expects Jack Eichel to attend Buffalo's training camp, even with everything that has happened this summer. However, with his serious injury, he would not pass his physical and would not be allowed to play. He also says that he believes that there's a "very good chance" the Sabres elect to take away his captaincy, as his time with the team will soon be over.

Eichel of course has been the biggest name in the rumor mill all summer. There's no secret that the Sabres have been taking offers on their disgruntled star, but with his ongoing neck injury, teams have been a bit hesitant to pull the trigger. He has five years left with a $10 million cap hit, so it's understandable that they would want a healthy Jack if they acquire him.

Eichel was limited to just 21 past games this past season with the Sabres because of his neck injury. In them, he scored two goals and recorded 18 points. Over his entire six-year career thus far, he has 139 goals, 216 assists and 355 points in 375 games. This likely is where his stats with Buffalo will end.

We will have to wait and see if Friedman's predictions come true, but it certainly seems very likely.
