St. Louis Blues: 3 Players With Expiring Contracts
With the off-season almost completed, it feels right to take a preview into next year's. In this segment, we will be looking at three players from each team who have expiring contracts. Both restricted and unrestricted free agents are eligible for discussion.
In this piece, we will be looking at the St. Louis Blues. They already finished a huge task by signing Colton Parayko to an extension, but they have another key player with an expiring deal. From there, they also have two veterans to decide on.
David Perron RW (UFA): David Perron seems to be one of those players who is getting better with age. In 56 games this past season, the 33-year-old winger scored 19 goals and had 58 points. He certainly is a player who the Blues should want to keep around, as he's one of their top forwards. Yet, if he has another strong year like last season, he will be expecting a lot of money on his next deal.
Robert Bortuzzo D (UFA): Robert Bortuzzo is in the final year of his contract. At this point of his career, he is a bottom-pair defenseman, but he does play the role well. In 40 games this past season, he scored a goal and added four assists. He is regarded as a defensive defenseman and does play the body very often as well. It will be interesting to see if the Blues decide to re-sign the 32-year-old.
Kyle Clifford LW (UFA): Kyle Clifford brings a bit of toughness to the Blues, as he never shies away from the physical side of the game. In 50 games with the team last season, he scored four goals and had seven points. He never will dominate the scoresheet, but he comes with a lot of overall experience, as evidenced by his two Stanley Cups. If the Blues decide to move on from him next summer, he could end up landing himself another deal elsewhere.
