St. Louis Blues Re-Sign Robert Thomas
The St. Louis Blues have re-signed forward Robert Thomas to a two-year contract. It will have an average annual value of $2.8 million.
Thomas was one of the last remaining RFAs in the league, so it's great that the Blues were finally able to get a deal done with him. The 2020-21 season was a down year for the 22-year-old, as he had just three goals and 12 points in 33 games. The season before, he had 42 points in 66 games, so fans know that he is capable of producing more. Now that he has had some time to rest after multiple injuries this past season, a bounce-back seems to be in order.
Overall, this is an acceptable contract for Thomas. A bridge deal was the right route to go down after his struggles this season. Furthermore, the Blues have limited cap space, so they would not have been able to pay him more on a long-term term deal. Nonetheless, watch Thomas closely this season. This should be a very solid season for him.
