St. Louis Blues Sign Two Veterans To Professional Tryout Contracts
The St. Louis Blues have signed James Neal and Michael Frolik to professional tryout contracts.
Neal was bought out by the Edmonton Oilers earlier this off-season and has yet to find a permanent home for the season. After a strong first year with the Oilers, he took a step back again this past season. In 29 games, he scored five goals and recorded 10 points. He had 19 goals and 31 points in 55 games the previous season. In 850 career games, he has 294 goals, 261 assists and 555 points.
Frolik spent this past season with the Montreal Canadiens. He suited up in eight games for the NHL squad, but failed to record a single point. He also played two games with the Laval Rocket and also did not get on the scoresheet. He is another veteran looking to prove that he can still play professionally at the NHL level. In 858 career games, he has 159 goals, 225 assists and 384 points.
We will have to wait and see if these two end up getting contracts with the club. The Blues are not working with much money and also need to re-sign RFA Robert Thomas, too.
