Toronto Maple Leafs: 2 Trade Rumors Following the Team

The Toronto Maple Leafs are beloved by Leafs Nation and chirped by everyone else. The Leafs haven't won a playoff series in almost two decades and management is starting to lose patience in their core. Expect the Leafs to go all-in again in 2021-22 and if they struggle, some big names could be moved. Here's two trade rumors that seem to be following the Maple Leafs around:

Morgan Rielly Trade Coming Soon

The Maple Leafs currently have over $13 million in cap space for the 2022-23 season, however will have roughly eight players to sign. Money is going to be tight, and Rielly is going to be an unrestricted free agent coming off a season where he's likely playing for Team Canada's Olympic team. The 27-year-old is going to get paid, it just may not be from the Maple Leafs. Expect him to be traded this season.

One of Two Top Prospects Gets Dealt

The Maple Leafs have two prospects teams across the NHL love and that's Timothy Liljegren and Nicholas Robertson. One is a former first-round pick who is a smooth-skating defenseman who's battled some untimely injuries. The other, a pesky forward who battles hard, skates like the wind and has an elite shot.

Liljegren is going to be given every shot to be the Maple Leafs #6 defenseman this season, meanwhile Robertson could score his way onto the top-line with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner. However, Toronto will be going all-in again this season and if they want to acquire a gamechanger in 2021-22, one of these two prospects will have to be included in the deal.
