Toronto Maple Leafs Sign Head Coach Sheldon Keefe To Extension

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed head coach Sheldon Keefe to a two-year extension. It will begin next season and expire after the 2023-24 season.

Keefe took over as Toronto's head coach in 2019 after the Leafs fired Mike Babcock. Beforehand, Keefe was head coach of their AHL affiliate - the Toronto Marlies. He had success there, as he led the team to their first ever Calder Cup in 2018. Now, he's looking to help the Leafs win their first Stanley Cup since 1967.

Since Keefe has become head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, they've had a lot of regular season success. In 103 games total, the Leafs have a 62-29-12 record with Keefe running the bench. Last season, they also of course would go on to have the most points in the North Division.

Now, Keefe is hoping that their strong regular season play can carry over to the playoffs. We will have to wait and see how the team performs with him still behind the bench these next few years.
