Travis Hamonic's Future With Vancouver Canucks May Be In Jeopardy
According to Rick Dhaliwal, Vancouver Canucks defenseman Travis Hamonic is contemplating retirement or sitting out this season due to family reasons.
Vancouver Hockey Now also has reported that the 31-year-old defenseman wants to play for a team in the United States because he may be unvaccinated. This, in turn, would allow him to participate in more games if actually true."Things I heard over the weekend are Mr. Hamonic is thinking about retirement, sitting out this season, everything is on the table. Everything is family related."

Regardless, these two reports certainly put Hamonic's future with the Canucks in jeopardy. This Friday is a very big day, as it is the deadline for NHLers to opt out of the season. It will be intriguing to see what decision the right-handed defenseman makes. During the 2020 postseason, he did opt out as well.Source close to Hamonic says the #Canucks defenceman would now prefer playing in a US market & the club is considering a trade. More games would be available without cross-border travel. Report is Hamonic is not vaxed. Ironic, considering his earlier career desires to move North.

Hamonic signed a two-year, $6 million contract with the Canucks this off-season after a solid first year with the team. In 38 games, he scored three goals and had 10 points. He also formed strong chemistry with star defenseman Quinn Hughes, so his presence would be missed if any of these reports come into fruition.
We will have to wait and see what ends up occurring with Hamonic and his future.
