Two Important NHL Dates Staying The Same
Due to the NHL's Olympic break this season, there are date changes for the trade deadline, first day of free agency, NHL Entry Draft and Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, there are two dates that are keeping their well-known spots. All restricted free agents must sign by December 1st to play in the league this season and players on one-year deals can sign extensions starting on January 1st, 2022.
At this present time, there are still are still a handful of notable RFAs who have yet to sign their new contracts. The Vancouver Canucks have both Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson to re-sign. Brady Tkachuk is another young star who needs a new deal by then. However, it is hard to believe that these three won't be signed before December 1st.With return to a more "normal" calendar, two dates have returned to their regular spots. RFAs must sign by Dec. 1 to be eligible to play this year and players on one-year contracts can be extended on Jan. 1.

As for players on one-year deals, it will be intriguing to see if any NHL franchises decide to lock up any of their new signings for the future.
Nonetheless, at least there's some normalcy heading into this season. These dates will be very easy for fans to remember.
