Vancouver Canucks Close To Re-Signing Elias Pettersson

Not only are the Vancouver Canucks closer to re-signing Quinn Hughes, but also Elias Pettersson. According to Irfaan Gaffar, Pettersson's new deal is expected to be three years at just under $8 million per season.

It's fantastic to see that the Canucks are now close to coming to terms with Pettersson, too. Pettersson is their most offensively talented forward, so he certainly is needed for the beginning of the season. In 26 games this past season with the Canucks, he scored 10 goals and had 21 total points. During the two previous seasons, he had 66 points in each of them.

At just 22 years old, Pettersson still has plenty of time to improve as well. In 165 career games thus far, he has 65 goals, 88 assists and 153 points. During the 2018-19 season, he also won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL's top rookie.

We will report when the official deal is signed, but this is an excellent day for the Canucks. Soon, their two young stars will both be taking the ice for them.
