Vancouver Canucks Closing In On Re-Signing Quinn Hughes
According to Satiar Shah, the Vancouver Canucks are close to re-signing defenseman Quinn Hughes. It is expected to be a six-year deal and have a cap hit of just over $7.75 million.
Hughes is an integral part of the Canucks, so it's great to see that they are close to coming to terms with him. In 58 games last season, the 21-year-old scored three goals and had 41 points. During the previous season with them, he scored eight goals and recorded 53 points in 68 games. Thus, he has provided spectacular offense from the blueline for two straight years now.Hearing Hughes nearing a 6 year deal worth slightly above $7.75M per year with the Canucks

Once this contract is finalized, the Canucks will only have one major RFA to re-sign - Elias Pettersson. That is also a huge task to complete, but it appears that Hughes, at a minimum, will be with the team to start the season.
In 129 games in three NHL seasons thus far, Hughes has 11 goals, 86 assists and 97 points. We will provide an update once Hughes is officially signed to his new contract.
