Vancouver Canucks Sign Alex Chiasson To PTO

The Vancouver Canucks have signed Alex Chiasson to a professional tryout contract.

In 45 games this past season with the Edmonton Oilers, Chiasson scored nine goals and recorded 16 points. When utilized in a bottom-six role, Chiasson can be a useful player to have. He provides decent depth scoring and comes with size. During the 2018-19 season with the Oilers, he also scored 22 goals and had 38 points in 73 games. Therefore, he can put the puck in the net.

The Canucks have two important players to re-sign in Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes, so that may hold up any potential Chiasson contract for the season. However, at a minimum, this is a good opportunity for the 30-year-old winger to prove that he deserves to stay in the NHL.

Do you think Chiasson stands a shot of making Vancouver's roster? Let us know in the comments!
