Vegas Golden Knights: 3 Players With Expiring Contracts

With the off-season almost completed, it feels right to take a preview into next year's. In this segment, we will be looking at three players from each team who have expiring contracts. Both restricted and unrestricted free agents are eligible for discussion.

In this piece, we will be focusing on the Vegas Golden Knights. They have a lot of players with expiring contracts, so it should be an intriguing summer for them.

Reilly Smith RW (UFA): Reilly Smith has been a member of the Vegas Golden Knights since their first season. At this time, he also is one of their alternate captains. In 53 games this past season, he had 14 goals and 25 points. It was a down year for him offensively, as he had at least 50 points in each of his first three seasons with the team. He also was in the rumor mill this off-season, so one has to wonder if they will re-sign him. If he rebounds and puts up similar numbers to his previous seasons, it will help his case.

Brayden McNabb D (UFA): Another original Golden Knight, Brayden McNabb will also be in need of a new contract after this season. In 41 games this past season with the team, he scored two goals and recorded eight points. He's a very solid defenseman who also throws the body a lot. He had 98 hits this past season, which was a lot given the amount of games he played. In each of the three previous seasons, he also had at least 200 hits. This and his reliable defensive play could be enough for him to get re-signed. Vegas would certainly love to keep him around if they can afford him.

Nicolas Hague D (RFA): Nicolas Hague will be due for a raise next off-season. In 52 games this past season, he scored five goals and had 17 points. He also had a notable +14 rating, so he's grown significantly when it comes to his defensive play, too. He has all the tools to become a legitimate top-four defenseman in this league and should only improve from here. Keep in mind, he is still just 22 years old.
