Video: Jonathan Toews Returns for the Chicago Blackhawks
What a great scene on Wednesday night as the Chicago Blackhawks welcomed back their captain Jonathan Toews to their team with open arms as they faced off against the Detroit Red Wings.
Toews returned to the game for the first time since missing the entire 2020-21 season due to chronic immune response syndrome. In fact his last game played was back in August of 2020 when his team was ousted by the Vegas Golden Knights in the playoff bubble.
Toews last full season was back in 2018-19 when he played in all 82 games and produced 35 goals and 81 points. His team would love for Captain Serious to get back into form, but Toews did admit he's taking his recovery one day at a time, and isn't quite 'back' to his expected form.
Look for Toews to get into a couple more preseason games to find his legs and his cardio of being back in an NHL game. It was a great site on Wednesday. The NHL is a better place when Jonathan Toews is playing hockey.
