Video: Seattle Kraken Win First NHL Game
It may only be the preseason but on Sunday night it was the first time there was 32 teams in the NHL. The newly minted Seattle Kraken took on the Vancouver Canucks and the Kraken organization now has a perfect record, winning 5-3 in their opening game.
The game took place in Spokane, Washington and let's just say the fan fare was crazy. Even though the team was roughly 300 miles from home, the building was packed and the lineups to get in and for merchandise were insane. The building held just over 10,000 people and the Kraken used the energy in the building to come back from being down 2-0.
Riley Sheahan was the first Kraken to light the lamp, while both Ryan Donato and Jared McCann chipped in with power play markers. The Kraken are looking to take over the pacific northwest of Canada and the USA as the team will carry on throughout the area playing preseason games. The team is also focused in on Alaska as a big market for them and have already begun promotional campaigns.
