Video: UHL Player Makes Racist Gesture Towards Opponent
The scene from a Ukrainian Hockey League (UHL) on Sunday was absolutely disgusting as a player named Andrei Deniskin decided to mock opposing forward Jalen Smereck with a racist gesture.
The video has blown up and gone viral and the outrage is running wild and completely warranted. There's no place for antics like this in hockey, sports or society for that matter. The quote from Deniskin after the game made you scratch your head as well as he said sports are emotional and its ok to shake this off because his emotions got the best of him.
There's been a cry to the IIHF to have Deniskin banned for life from playing hockey on the international stage after these actions:
Hello @iihf and @uhlua 📞 ; hoping your decision is minimum 1 year suspension without pay in all league and international competitions. This player’s actions are both hurtful and inexcusable. ⏰ I eagerly await your appropriate and punitive response .@NHL #HockeyTwitter https://t.co/AVek4mGlhV

This is just disgusting. I’m sorry @jalen_smereck that this can happen to you in a hockey rink or anywhere in our world. It’s sickening.
