Washington Capitals Sign First NHL Jersey Ad Agreement
The Washington Capitals have kicked off the party. The team was the first across the league to land an advertisement agreement, doing so on a multi-year deal with Caesars Sportsbook.
The deal will begin in 2022-23 where the Capitals' home and third jerseys for games played at the Capital One Arena in Washington will have the Caesars logo, likely just under the right shoulder.
The Capitals are trying to make as much money as possible and are still working on another agreement for their road sweaters. The NHL is now following the suit of many other sports leagues who already have jersey ads on their sweaters. With the pandemic attacking revenue, this was one way to gain some more money for the league. While it may have been in the cards regardless of the pandemic, it was certainly expedited.
