2 Dallas Stars Prospects Who Could Get Called Up This Season
As the season gets underway, players will begin to suffer injuries as they sacrifice their bodies for the sake of their team, not to mention the ever-present concern of a positive Covid diagnosis. Eventually, there will be players who will need to miss games, and others will need to be called in to replace them in the lineup. Here are two such prospects who could see some playing time on the Dallas Stars this season.
Jacob Peterson
This wasn't a hard choice, Peterson started the season with the Stars and was only sent back to the AHL because of the return of Jason Robertson to Dallas' lineup. Since his assignment to the Texas Stars, Peterson has 2 goals in 2 games, following up on his first NHL goal which he scored against the New York Rangers just a few weeks ago. Peterson is a pretty sure bet to get another call-up at some point this season, but the Stars would rather have him playing top minutes in the AHL than stuck on the 4th line in the NHL. Considering all this has happened during his first taste of North American pro hockey, the former 2017 5th-rounder is handling himself admirably, and has caught Dallas GM Jim Nill's eye as a potential solution to the Stars' offensive woes.

Riley Damiani
Another big reason Peterson returned to the AHL is Riley Damiani. Last year's AHL Rookie of the Year, Damiani has been following up on a point-per-game season (36 points in 36 games) by once again racking up the points. He's currently sitting at 2 goals and 5 points in 6 games with the Texas Stars, and now he gets to have Peterson playing on his line. Another 5th-round selection, this one from 2018, Damiani has been lighting up every league he's played in since being drafted. What's more impressive is that his scoring didn't miss a beat when he transitioned to pro hockey. The kid is still an offensive machine, and he doesn't look like he'll fall off any time soon. If he and Peterson can find some chemistry on the top line for Texas, there's a good chance both will end up in the NHL by the end of the year.
