3 Players Named To Team Latvia's Roster

Team Latvia has added Rudolfs Balcers, Zemgus Girgensons and Kristians Rubins to their Olympic roster.

Balcers may not be a star, but he certainly showed signs of improvement this past season. In 41 games with the San Jose Sharks, he scored eight goals and recorded 17 points. These were career-highs for the 24-year-old winger. During the two seasons before, he played for the Ottawa Senators and had six goals and 17 points in 51 total games.

Out of the three, Girgensons has the most NHL experience. In 489 career games with the Buffalo Sabres, he has 61 goals, 77 assists and 138 points. He missed the entirety of last season after having surgery on his hamstring. Thankfully, the 27-year-old forward is now healthy and ready to go.

Rubins is a prospect for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He has yet to play at the NHL level, but could be given that chance soon. The 6'4" defenseman played 22 games for the Toronto Marlies last season. With them, he scored a goal and had two assists. He also played in Denmark for the Frederikshavn White Hawks, too. In 21 games, he scored two goals and had five points.
